What is Veterans Administration Accredited Claims Agent?

An Agent is:

  • a professional veterans law practitioner but not an  attorney.

  • not a VA employee.

  • accredited by federal law by:

1. passing a lawyer level background and character and fitness review by the VA Office of General Counsel (OGC).

2. passing a written examination in  veterans law and VA procedures.

3. submitting required Continuing Legal Education credits for approval by the VA OGC.

The VA accreditation program exists to ensure that Veterans and their family members receive appropriate representation on their VA benefit claims. VA accreditation is for the sole and limited purpose of preparing, presenting, and prosecuting claims before VA.

Why should you hire an agent/attorney?

  1. The number one reason is knowledge, skills and abilities.

  2. Our Vested Interest in your claim. If you don't succeed, we don't either.

  • Example: Veteran Service Organizations have National and Department Veterans Service Officers and they in turn certify County Veterans Service Officer under their umbrella to process claims. They get paid whether they are successful or not, educated or not, competent or not.

  • Also VSO's, DSO's, NSO's, and CVSO are not all created equal. Some are full time, part time, 4 hours a week, and some work in an office and some out of the trunk of a car.

  • There are very good officers out there free of charge but how do you know?
